Invest in your health by Dietician Nutritionist in Mumbai
Having said that, as soon as I became aware, through my education, of the compound effect which lifestyle and behaviours have on health outcomes, I started to adopt a different approach. I remember seeing a graph which outlined how smokers’ patients who quit before the age of 30 could avoid over 97 per cent of the increased risk of death that smoking imparts.
I tell everyone to eat and drink healthy.
I believe food is a fundamental investment in my health and my family’s health. I spend a lot of time working and thinking about the best superfoods to be given to the patients, because I truly enjoy understanding, contributing to and communicating the power of nutrition and lifestyle change to improve health. I savour the time I spend with my children, and time with them whilst they’re still young…
Increasing my health span and looking after myself so I can be there for my children is one of my core values, but I don’t spend even one hour out of every day investing in the things that will result in improved health, my values do not align with my actions. Nutrition is a form of investment. By spending time buying, preparing and eating foods that help to nourish us, we are investing in our health with a very good return on investment.
According to the studies of dietician nutritionists in Mumbai Geetanjali Mengi and my experience of changing our diet can really impact life expectancy, and created a fun tool to use with it. Eating more legumes, whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables and less processed and red meat is the simplest way to add up to 13 years to your life.
The earlier you make the change, the more years you gain, so if I were to optimize my diet now in my mid-thirties I could gain 6.3 years. I actually stopped eating red and processed meat in my mid-twenties and have legumes and whole grains every day, which hopefully means I’ve added close to 9 years to my life.
Our children eat snacks, sit for hours and hours on end and then eat more food. Adults do the same and we don’t realize that we aren’t using our bodies to their potential. Some of us aren’t even using our minds to their potential; creativity and play is in competition with content which surrounds us from every angle and device.
The principle of positive nutrition can be applied to all of these areas: eat foods that are good for us in abundance, move our bodies in new ways, use an abundance mindset when planning your day
